The Stage.
Here at Watlington Players we are lucky to have a permanent theatrical stage area to use for our rehearsals and also to run our shows on. This gives us a great edge for our performances as by then we are usually very at home on the stage! |
The auditorium seating can be arranged in rows (as shown) or at tables for a more social experience during a show. In this layout the audience can then enjoy a drink at their table during the performance. |

Every show needs a make-up department. Volunteer members give their time to assist backstage during rehearsals and on shownights.
Make-up can be as diverse as a lord needing a moustache, a lady needing a touch of blusher, to a duck needing a beak! |
Stage lighting can provide a significant boost to the atmosphere the audience feels from the stage. Lighting technicians and assistants are kept busy altering the location of the spot lights and programming the lighting controller for the performances being run. |

Getting involved with props can mean everything from supplying furniture and other objects (even plants!) to making the occasional bespoke item from scratch. Props are also an essential element for a good show and someone has to be in charge and manage them. The props have to be in the correct place every night to ensure that the show goes without a hitch! |
Running and helping out at the "Front of House" is also an integral part of all the shows. It involves setting out and putting away the seating, selling tickets on the door, guiding guests to their seats, serving at the bar and generally making the audience feel welcomed. |

After the final performance, the Players involved in the show hold the traditional "after show party". With food and drink and a bit of music and dancing to follow, the evening usually starts with a speech or two from the Director(s) and the Chairman and normally ends in the very small hours... |
